Growing Gracefully

gap pumpLet’s talk a little more about God’s gift of grace. As I’ve pondered grace, I’ve decided that having a continuous flow of Christ’s ability and power in my life is definitely the way to go. It’s like being empowered with the most costly fuel…the best there is. Yet this amazing grace doesn’t cost me anything. Jesus paid the outrageous price for it so that all I have to do is open my heart and receive it. What does that mean?

It means that I don’t want to live a life independent from God’s leadership. I desire to live a Holy Spirit led life, with a continuous flow of Christ’s ability and power. No more of a “do it myself” thing; that doesn’t get me anywhere. And it’s very costly to me because when I do it myself, I end up with regrets and mistakes to correct. It’s like putting out fires constantly.

But when I depend on Jesus, I can feel the grace flowing even when I haven’t asked for it…it simply comes, and I receive it with an open heart. I find myself growing closer to God as I receive His sweet grace. And the closer to God I grow, the more like Him I can become. It’s such a beautiful thing, isn’t it?

Yet it gets even better. The more of God’s grace that I receive, the more of it I can extend to others. It gives me the ability to love as Jesus said to love. Not only will my life be changed, but others will be affected as I grow gracefully, in intimacy with God. This isn’t just for me, you know! Think and pray about it, and perhaps we will grow gracefully together.
